Dungeon of the Mad Mage Session 6

Greetings adventurers! Session 6 saw our party facing immediate danger before ultimately deciding to head back to the relative safety of Waterdeep.

We picked up right where we left off: facing three menacing manacores in a large room. Combat erupted quickly, with Anna opening the door and immediately casting mirror image. The manacores proved to be formidable foes, with their lion-like bodies, scorpion tails, and dragon wings. The party employed a variety of tactics, including frost spells, sacred flames, magic missiles, and even a slow spell to hinder their movements. Despite their efforts, the sheer number of manacores forced a strategic retreat with the door being slammed shut.

Choosing a different path, the party encountered a filthy room occupied by a troll. A plan was hatched to use oil and fire to deal with the regenerating creature. Anna successfully covered the troll in oil, and No Fanus followed up with a fireball. Despite the troll's regeneration, the continued assault of fire spells and other attacks eventually defeated the creature. The room, however, yielded no treasure.

Further exploration led to a room filled with rotting meat and the discovery of a copper tankard. A locked door was encountered, behind which lay the corpse of a dwarven skeleton clutching a dagger. The room contained a burglar's pack missing a lantern and oil.

Continuing through the dungeon, the party entered a room with eleven lifelike statues, one of which was made of a glistening black stone. Touching this black statue caused it to come alive as a black pudding. The ensuing combat was perilous, with the black pudding striking Kasev unconscious. The party managed to defeat the black pudding. The black statue was identified as depicting Gand, the god of intervention.

With resources dwindling and having faced multiple dangerous encounters, the decision was made to take a long rest within the safety of Leomund's Tiny Hut. Upon waking, Gala Adore used remove curse on the cursed longsword Anna had acquired earlier.

Finally, the party encountered a room with members of the Undertakers, bandits dressed as vampires, along with a flesh golem. Another combat ensued, with spells and attacks exchanged, resulting in the defeat of the bandits.

With a significant amount of loot gathered, the party decided to return to the surface to Waterdeep. In Waterdeep, they successfully sold their mundane and magical items, including the cursed longsword and a mysterious withered heart, earning a substantial amount of gold and platinum. Gala Adore planned to use some of the earnings to upgrade their plate armor.

Thus concluded a dangerous session that ultimately led to a profitable trip back to civilization, setting the stage for future delves with upgraded gear and renewed resources.
